Is it permissible for the one led in prayer to perform the prostration of forgetfulness behind the Imam?

If a congregant errs while following the Imam, he does not perform the prostration of forgetfulness ( as-sahw), because the Imam bears his forgetfulness, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The Imam is a guarantor."
