Is it permissible to dance at a family occasion, such as a sister's wedding, provided there is no mixing [of genders], while it is difficult to resist dancing upon hearing music, and out of fear of appearing unhappy to one's sister?

A woman is permitted to dance in front of other women, provided certain conditions are met. However, excessive dancing compromises one's integrity (muru'a) and may involve prohibited elements such as music, photography, or sharing images with non-mahram men. If the dancing is permissible, it is allowed at a sister's wedding to please her, as long as it is not accompanied by prohibited elements such as musical instruments or the presence of non-mahram men. Attending a wedding that includes prohibited elements is not permissible, except for the purpose of enjoining good and forbidding evil, provided one's own safety is assured. We advise against it, even if it were permissible, because it diminishes one's integrity. And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.
