Is it permissible for a devout Muslim woman who loves to dance to participate in wedding parties where forbidden musical instruments are used, such as DJ equipment and instruments that produce sounds from closed tambourines, and what is the sin of clapping and cheering at these parties, and how can she attend the weddings of her brothers and sisters without falling into sin?

It is impermissible to attend gatherings that include singing with musical instruments and mixing with men, nor to participate in dancing therein; for this is forbidden by Islamic law. It is not permissible for a Muslim to attend places of wrongdoing except to denounce it, provided there is the ability to influence and security from temptation, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And those who do not witness falsehood," and His saying: "And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them."

As for a woman dancing in front of other women, it is disliked but not forbidden if she is modestly dressed, and the singing is from women and free of musical instruments except for the duff (tambourine).

It is permissible to attend relatives' weddings, but with avoidance of places of wrongdoing, such that one does not see or hear it. One must be cautious of being lenient in religious matters to please people, for whoever seeks Allah’s pleasure, even if it displeases people, Allah will suffice him against them.
