Is it reprehensible to save money for the future, while desiring to spend money immediately on charity, sponsoring orphans, and buying religious books, following the example of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him)?

One should be keen to give charity seeking Allah's pleasure, as Allah Almighty says: "And whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers," as long as it does not harm oneself or those whose maintenance is obligatory upon him. Saving for the future is permissible, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to save a year's worth of provisions for his family.
