What is the ruling on money acquired from the cigarette trade after repenting from it and trading with it in permissible goods?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Selling cigarettes is forbidden due to their harm, and if Allah has forbidden something, He has also forbidden its price. Therefore, whoever possesses money from selling cigarettes must dispose of it by spending it on general public welfare for Muslims. It is permissible for him, if he is poor, to take from it what suffices his needs or what can serve as capital for him to trade in permissible goods.
