Is it permissible to act upon a weak Hadith regarding the virtues of deeds, such as the Hadith about fasting and observing night prayers on the night of mid-Sha'ban: "When it is the night of mid-Sha'ban, spend its night in prayer and fast its day"?

The narrations concerning the virtues of the 15th night of Sha'ban are categorized as fabricated (Mawdu') and false (Batil). It is impermissible to act upon them or to implement their implications. A number of scholars have ruled that these narrations are void. Celebrating the 15th night of Sha'ban with prayer or other acts, and specifically fasting on its day, is a reprehensible innovation (Bid'ah munkarah) and has no basis in the pure Sharia. All the narrations mentioned regarding it are fabricated and weak, having no foundation. It is a night without any specific distinction. There is no known religious basis for singling out this night and its day for any particular act. The correct opinion among scholars is not to accept weak hadith at all, even if they pertain to the virtues of deeds.
