What is the treatment for scrupulosity regarding sins, which makes a person believe he is sinful if he helps others, fearing they might use the help for something unlawful?

The person afflicted with waswas (obsessive whisperings) must turn away from these whisperings and ignore them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, urged people to help one another, for whoever fulfills the need of his brother, Allah will fulfill his need. The most beloved of people to Allah are those most beneficial to people, and the most beloved of deeds to Allah are the joy you bring to a Muslim, or relieving him of distress, or paying off his debt.

However, it is not permissible for a Muslim to aid in sin. If it is known that the one being helped will use the assistance for evil, then the helper becomes a partner in the sin. If it is highly probable, this probability takes the place of certain knowledge, making it impermissible to provide aid, based on Allah’s saying: {And do not cooperate in sin and aggression}. As for one whose intention to use the assistance for forbidden acts is not known, there is no harm in helping him.
