Is it incumbent upon someone who has enmity with another, and intends to reconcile with him, to initiate communication via WhatsApp to end the enmity if a meeting is not possible, or should he wait for a chance encounter to reconcile with him? And is a mere greeting sufficient for reconciliation without resuming the previous relationship?

Estrangement is removed by extending greetings of peace (salam), for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And the better of the two is the one who initiates the salam." The salam becomes a remover of estrangement if it indicates the disappearance of animosity and the return of things to their natural state. If communication through applications is common between the estranged parties, then one should initiate the salam and reconciliation through them. Ambiguous phrases that might be misunderstood, such as "Aql al-Rahman" (The Mind of the Most Merciful), should be avoided.
