The answer

Among the distinctions made between jism (body) and jasad (corporeality) is what Al-Kafawi stated: Jism is the collection of the body and limbs of humans and others, while jasad is a colored body, such as that of a human, an angel, or a jinn. It is not applied to water or air. As for Al-Jawhari in Al-Sihah, he believes they are synonymous: "Al-jism is al-jasad," and similarly, "al-jismān and al-juthmān."
