Who is the woman known as the Guardian of the Quran?

Hafsa bint Umar ibn al-Khattab was married to Khunays ibn Hudhafah al-Sahmi. After he was martyred in the Battle of Uhud, Umar offered her to Uthman, and then to Abu Bakr. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, proposed to her and married her in the third year of the Hijra. He took her back after divorcing her, by order of Jibreel, who informed him that "she is a frequent fasters and a frequent worshipper at night, and she is your wife in Paradise." After the Prophet's death, Abu Bakr chose her to safeguard the first written manuscript of the Qur'an, and for this, she was called "the Guardian of the Qur'an." Hafsa died during the reign of Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan.
