Magic is a teaching from Satan and harms only by Allah's permission. It has no power over those who rely on their Lord. The first thing that must be done when afflicted by magic is to adhere to Allah Almighty's command, outwardly and inwardly, through repentance and striving in His obedience, and by filling the heart with the meanings of servitude. The sincere believer is granted Allah's promises, such as His saying: {Indeed, over My [true] servants there is no authority for you. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs} [Al-Isra: 65]. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, followed this path when he was afflicted by magic, by resorting to Allah through persistent supplication. It is recommended to supplicate and repeat it when facing adversities. The questioner is advised to have a good opinion of Allah, and to be sincere in seeking His help and relying on Him, for the prophets would turn to Allah in supplication and He would answer them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No Muslim on the face of the earth supplicates to Allah with a supplication except that Allah grants it to him, or averts from him evil similar to it." The best treatment for magic is for a person to treat himself by relying on Allah, having a good opinion of Him, sincerely resorting to Him, performing abundant prayers, recitations, remembrance, supplications, and using lawful ruqyah.
