Is the questioner considered sinful for not covering her face and hands, and is it permissible for her to adopt the view that allows their uncovering, given her awareness of the scholarly disagreement on this issue, and her commitment to a sharia-compliant hijab in terms of length and being non-transparent or tight?

The jurists differed on the ruling concerning a woman uncovering her face in front of a non-mahram man. Some permitted it, while others did not, and the latter is the fatwa we follow. In our view, a woman uncovering her face is a sin. However, if you act upon the قول (saying/opinion) of scholars who permitted uncovering, without merely seeking out concessions, then there is no sin upon you. We advise you to wear a full-body covering (farrashiyya) that includes the face. Wearing the khimar and abaya has become common in Libya.
