I want to know the reality of the Event of Ghadir Khumm from a neutral perspective.

Ghadir Khumm is a place between Mecca and Medina near Al-Juhfa, where the Prophet, peace be upon him, gave a great sermon on his return from the Farewell Pilgrimage, highlighting the virtue of Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him. This was after some soldiers had complained about him, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “Whomever I am his Mawla, Ali is his Mawla.” The reason for this was that Ali had prevented his soldiers from wearing the garments that were with him before meeting the Prophet. There is no disagreement among the Sunnis on Ali's virtue and his status after Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman. What is claimed about the revelation of the verse “Today I have completed for you your religion” on this day and that it is recommended to fast on it is slander, as the verse was revealed before that at Arafat during the Farewell Pilgrimage.
