What are the proofs of Muhammad's prophethood, peace and blessings be upon him, in the incident of the slander (Al-Ifk)?

Among the signs of prophethood in the incident of the Slander (Al-Ifk) was the Prophet's (peace be upon him) halt and his waiting for revelation, despite his intense need to speak. He remained for a period until the revelation of Aisha's innocence descended. This indicates his truthfulness, for a liar does not delay in fabricating when there is a need. Another example of this is the delay in revelation regarding the story of the Companions of the Cave, the Spirit, and the Traveler, after Quraish had questioned him about them.
