The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not doubt his prophethood after the first verses of Surat Al-Muddathir were revealed. Allah commanded him to preach and to announce to all people that he was Allah's Messenger to them, as stated in the verse: (Say, "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all"). The Quranic verses describe his speech as the word of a noble Messenger, not the word of a poet or a soothsayer. His confidence in his prophethood is evident when he saw his companions being tortured and told them: "Patience, O family of Yasir, for indeed your appointed time is Paradise." It is also evident when he rejected the offers of Quraysh to give him wealth, honor, and kingship in exchange for abandoning his call, and he responded to his uncle Abu Talib: "O uncle, by Allah, if they were to place the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left hand on condition that I abandon this matter until Allah makes it victorious, or I perish in it, I would not abandon it." He also rejected their compromise of worshipping their deities for a year and worshipping his God for a year, and Surat Al-Kafirun was revealed to decisively address this: (To you be your religion, and to me my religion).
