Is the ḥadīth narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Whoever wishes that Allah would lighten for him the length of standing on the Day of Resurrection, let him show Allah in the darkness of the night, prostrating and standing, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord" authentic, and what is its تخريج (source) and isnād (chain of narration)?

The aforementioned narration has not been authentically attributed to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. Rather, some exegetes mentioned it in a weakened form, and it was narrated as a saying of Ibn Abbas, with similar wordings, when interpreting the verse: "Is one who is devoutly obedient during the hours of the night, prostrating and standing, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, like one who is not? Say, 'Are those who know equal to those who do not know?' Only those of understanding will remember." (Az-Zumar: 9). Ibn Atiyyah reported from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, his saying: "Whoever wishes that Allah make easy for him the standing on the Day of Judgment, let him show Allah in the darkness of the night prostrating or standing."
