Is it permissible to borrow from usurious institutions in cases of dire necessity, especially when no other alternatives are available?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Borrowing with usury is among the major sins and destructive acts, incurring damnation and removing blessings. It is not permissible except in cases of dire necessity.

If the borrowing was for something other than a necessity, for example, to expand a business; then it is obligatory to hasten in repentance to Allah, while being diligent in obeying Him and avoiding His disobedience, and relying on Him to facilitate good provision, as He (the Most High) says: {And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him.}.
