Is it permissible to recite the Qur’an and perform prayer with the recitation of Khalaf from Hamza, and what is a brief history of this narration?

Imam Khalaf ibn Hisham al-Baghdadi is one of the famous and prominent reciters. He is the first narrator of Hamza’s recitation, which he received from his teacher, Sulaym ibn Isa. He was born in the year 155 AH and memorized the Quran at the age of ten. He was trustworthy, ascetic, devout, and knowledgeable. He heard from Malik ibn Anas and Hammad ibn Zayd, and recited to Sulaym and Abu Yusuf al-A'sha. Many people narrated from him, including Muslim and Abu Dawud. He passed away in the year 229 AH.

As for the owner of the recitation, he is Imam Hamza ibn Habib al-Zayyat al-Kufi, born in the year 80 AH. He lived during the time of the Companions. He took the recitation from al-A'mash and Humran ibn A'yun, and Sulaym ibn Isa and al-Kisa'i recited to him. He was an Imam, knowledgeable in Hadith, fara'id (Islamic inheritance laws), and Arabic. His recitation traces back to Ali ibn Abi Talib and Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who received it from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He passed away in the year 156 AH.

Therefore, the recitation of Khalaf from Hamza is a mutawatir (mass-transmitted) recitation. It is one of the ten mutawatir recitations and one of the seven whose mutawatir status is agreed upon. It is permissible to recite with it in prayer and otherwise.
