The question

Is the husband obligated to financially support his second wife and their daughter? Is he permitted to prevent his second wife from entering his country of residence or from having children in order to appease his first wife? Is seeking help from a third party in marital problems considered a disclosure of secrets? Does the principle "So fear Allah as much as you are able" apply to the husband's obligations towards his wife? What is the most appropriate course of action for the wife given the husband's distance and procrastination, especially with the presence of a daughter?

The answer

The husband must provide for his wife and daughter in a reasonable manner, based on the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "And they have upon you their sustenance and clothing in a reasonable manner," and Allah Almighty's saying: "{And upon the father is their provision and their clothing in a reasonable manner}" (Quran 2:233). He must also engage in marital relations with his wife in a reasonable manner that suffices her. It is not permissible for him to be absent from her for a period that harms her without an excuse. If he is absent for more than six months and the wife requests his return, he is obligated to do so. If he refuses and she requests separation, they shall be separated.

Disliking long journeys or citing the verse "{So fear Allah as much as you are able}" (Quran 64:16) is not considered an excuse for not fulfilling these rights. Rather, fearing Allah means fulfilling the rights of people, especially those of the wife. The wife has the right to demand her full rights, including the right to have children, and the husband is not permitted to prevent her from this. If the wife chooses to waive some of her rights and be patient with her husband, she is permitted to do so.

The husband must fear Allah and know that he is sinful towards his wife and daughter, and he must give them their rights as commanded by Allah.
