Is hastening to prayer for the sake of catching up with a worldly matter, such as a girl immediately standing for prayer after the Adhan in order to watch a television program, considered a form of Shirk?

A girl should not be accused of polytheism (shirk (definition)) due to her excessive interest in prayer. Rather, one should have a good opinion of her and interpret this interest as diligence in prayer before anything distracts her from it. Prayer is a comfort to the eyes and a relief for the Muslim, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The comfort of my eye has been made in prayer," and "O Bilal, establish the prayer, and relieve us with it."

A Muslim should be diligent in good deeds because they will comfort him in his grave. Good deeds appear to their doer in the grave in a beautiful form.

Interest in good deeds does not prevent a Muslim from striving to earn a lawful livelihood. Islam encourages this, and it has legislated spreading out in the land to seek Allah's bounty after performing prayer, as stated in His Almighty قول: "So when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often that you may succeed."

Allah Almighty has praised those whose trade or sale does not divert them from the remembrance of Allah, the establishment of prayer, and the giving of zakat (definition). They prioritize obedience to Allah over their worldly interests, as did the noble Companions.
