Is it permissible to name one's son "Bara' Al-Rahman"?

There is no harm in naming a newborn "Bara' al-Rahman," because the attribution to Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) here is an attribution of creation and ownership, which is a general attribution shared by all creation, as explained by Ibn Taymiyyah. Nevertheless, it is preferable to use well-known, beautiful names, the best of which are "Abdullah" and "Abdul Rahman," due to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The most beloved of your names to Allah are Abdullah and Abdul Rahman."
