How can one combine repeating the Adhan and the sonic overlap between muezzins to attain the intercession of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?
Scholars have differed regarding responding to the Adhan (call to prayer) if there are multiple Muezzins (callers to prayer). Some said it is sufficient to respond to the first Adhan, in compliance with the Prophet's command, peace and blessings be upon him: "When you hear the Muezzin, say as he says," and that the command does not necessitate repetition. Others said that one should respond to the first, second, and more calls due to the generality of the Hadith and because it is a remembrance for which one is rewarded. This is what Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen preferred. However, if they call the Adhan simultaneously, it is sufficient to respond to only one Adhan.
