The question

How do I pay Zakat on 25,0 Saudi Riyals remaining in my account after graduation, knowing that I did not pay Zakat on it throughout my study period due to my ignorance of Zakat rulings, and how do I pay Zakat on my money in the future after employment?

The answer

Zakat is an obligatory act. To purify your wealth, strive to determine the first time your wealth reached the nisab, then pay zakat on the full amount at the end of the hawl (one lunar year), or pay zakat on each amount as its hawl passes. You can combine the added wealth with the nisab and pay zakat on all of it, or pay zakat on each monthly addition when its hawl is due. To facilitate this, request a bank statement from the bank. Zakat is one-quarter of one-tenth (25 Riyals for every thousand), and it is paid to the eight categories mentioned in the Holy Quran: "Indeed, [ prescribed ] charitable donations are only for the poor, the needy, those employed to collect [ them ], those whose hearts are to be reconciled, [ freeing ] captives, those in debt, in the cause of Allah, and for the wayfarer; [ this is ] an obligation from Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise."
