The company of the righteous and people of knowledge is religiously encouraged. Obedience to parents in preventing such companionship depends on the existence of a religiously acceptable reason for their prohibition. If there is no religious justification for the mother's prohibition of the company of the righteous, then obedience to her is not obligatory, and it is permissible to resume their company while being careful to conceal it from her to avoid her anger. However, if there is a religious justification, then obedience to her is obligatory.
