Is praising one of our brothers in his absence considered backbiting?

Gheebah (backbiting) is mentioning a person with what they dislike in their absence, as clarified by the prophetic hadith (definition): "Your mention of your brother with what he dislikes." Praising a person in their absence does not fall under gheebah, even if they dislike it, because it is permissible to mention a person's good qualities for encouragement and emulation, as this serves a public interest, even though humility and avoiding fame are preferred.
