What is incumbent upon a woman who committed a major sin that led to the loss of her virginity, then repented, if a suitor proposes to her? Should she confess to him, or should she handle the matter [discreetly]? And is confessing considered a public disclosure of a sin?

A Muslim must conceal their sins and is not permitted to disclose them, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "All of my ummah will be forgiven except for those who publicize their sins." It is forbidden for a girl to inform her suitor that she has committed an immoral act. As for the loss of virginity, she is not obliged to inform her suitor of it unless he made it a condition, in which case she must inform him, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever cheats us is not of us." If the marriage takes place and the husband discovers it and asks, she can use a double entendre, stating that the loss of virginity has many causes other than intercourse. One must be wary of the causes that lead to immoral acts.
