Is growing a beard an obligation or a recommended act, and does the ruling differ based on changing customs?

The preponderant view is that shaving the beard is forbidden and letting it grow is obligatory. Adherence to the divine text continues until the Day of Judgment. It is not correct to claim that some rulings were revealed for specific reasons that cease when the reason ceases, for the consideration is given to the generality of the wording, not the specificity of the cause. Islamic rulings are eternal because the Islamic Sharia is the final of all laws. And whoever denies an Islamic ruling while knowing it has disbelieved.
