Is it sufficient to sprinkle water on the spots of sticky madhiy (pre-seminal fluid) and maniy (semen) on clothing to purify it and pray in it, and what is the ruling on prayers offered in that state?
Masturbation is forbidden, and repentance for it is obligatory. Scholars have differed concerning semen (mani): the preponderant opinion is that it is pure (tahir), and therefore it is not obligatory to wash it off clothes, and prayer with it is valid, though washing it is preferable. Pre-seminal fluid () is impure (najis) by consensus. Scholars have differed on how to purify it: the majority hold that washing it is obligatory, while Ahmad and Ibn Taymiyyah held that sprinkling (nadh) suffices. Therefore, sprinkling the affected area on clothes with water due to madhy is sufficient, and prayer will be valid, but washing it is more cautious.
