Was Salman the Persian—before his conversion to Islam—a monotheistic Christian who believed that Jesus was God's servant and messenger, and was his Christian faith at that time free from distortion?

Before his conversion to Islam, Salman al-Farsi adhered to the true religion of Christ (peace be upon him), which was the monotheistic faith that had not been corrupted. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that many Christians altered the religion of Christ after his ascension, but a group among them remained steadfast in the truth until the advent of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Salman encountered this group who remained on the religion of Christ, and each of them informed him of the diminishing number of those who still adhered to this faith. Eventually, the last of them told him that no one remained and gave him tidings of the advent of a prophet with the religion of Abraham from the Hijaz. This became the reason for Salman's conversion to Islam and his emigration.
