Is embracing and kissing permissible when offering condolences?

The Sunnah upon meeting is shaking hands. An exception to this is someone arriving from a journey, in which case it is prescribed to kiss and embrace them. As for kissing and embracing someone not arriving from a journey, it is dislikable (makruh), except for a father kissing his child, and similar acts among unmarriageable kin (mahram) out of compassion. Kissing the family of the deceased when offering condolences has no Sunnah. Shaking hands when offering condolences is permissible, as it offers comfort to the family of the deceased and helps alleviate their intense grief.
