However, if it was not intended for trade at the time of purchase, or if there was hesitation regarding the intention, then, according to the majority of scholars, no zakat is due on it. If the land was purchased with the intention of both trade and gaining produce (ghallah), then zakat is obligatory on it. As for pears, there is no zakat on them according to the majority of scholars, but Abu Hanifa obligates zakat on them if they reach the , which is 653 kilograms.
