Do alum and wild rue bring jinn into the house, and is it permissible to use alum with asafoetida?

There may be herbal remedies known to trusted specialists that help in expelling jinn, but divine remedies such as legitimate ruqyah, adhkar (remembrances), recitation of the Quran, and supplication are more beneficial and effective. It is recommended to frequently recite the two Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas), Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Fatihah, Ayatul Kursi, and legitimate invocations for protection, such as: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created," and "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His wrath and punishment, from the evil of His servants, and from the evil whisperings of the devils and that they should approach me," and His saying, the Almighty: "Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne."
