What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a husband who electronically cheats on his wife, and does he forfeit his right to kind treatment from his wife and children?

It is obligatory to be dutiful to one's father and treat him kindly. It is not permissible to abandon him or mistreat him, even if he is committing sins.

Shaykh Ibn Baz said: "Parents have a special status. One should not abandon their parents; rather, they should visit them, care for them, and advise them, based on the words of Allah the Almighty: {Give thanks to Me and to your parents; to Me is the final return. (14) But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in this world with appropriate kindness} [Luqman: 14-15]. Allah commanded accompanying them with appropriate kindness even if they strive to make one associate partners with Him. One should pray for their guidance because their right is great, and being dutiful to them is among the most important obligations."

A believer should have a heart expansive with mercy for sinners and hope for their guidance, while still condemning the evil.

Ibn al-Qayyim said, in his discussion of people's perspectives on sins: "That he should offer excuses for creation and his mercy should encompass them, while upholding Allah's command concerning them. Thus, he upholds Allah's command concerning them out of mercy for them, not out of harshness or brutality towards them."
