What are the best deeds to draw closer to Allah? Is it permissible to ask Allah for death out of intense longing for Him, while fearing falling into what the people of Moses fell into when they demanded to see Allah openly? Is it true that Allah cannot be seen in this world? Is there a difference between "إن شاء الله" (In sha Allah) and "إنشاء الله" (Insha Allah)?

A Muslim must yearn for the meeting with Allah and prepare for it, looking forward to the reward He has prepared for His servants and the vision of Him. It is not permissible to supplicate against oneself or to wish for death, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "None of you should wish for death due to a harm that has befallen him. Rather, let him say: 'O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is good for me, and cause me to die if death is good for me.'" And his saying: "None of you should wish for death. If he is a doer of good, perhaps he will increase in good. If he is a doer of evil, perhaps he will repent." And his prohibition against supplicating against oneself, or one's children, or servants, or wealth. One who yearns for the meeting with Allah sees this world as a station of preparation for the meeting, and does not wish for death in hope of accumulating more provisions.
