What is the ruling on distributing parts of the Qur’an for individual recitation in homes during the week, then gathering on Friday before Maghrib to collectively supplicate for the completion of the Qur’an, and is this act considered an innovation (bid’ah)? Does the completion of the Qur’an occur in this manner, and what is the ruling on attending the supplication without having recited the assigned part?

Supplicating after completing the Qur’an is prescribed and established from the Companions. However, reciting the Qur’an in the mentioned parts (juz’iyyat) is not considered a full completion (khatm). As for gathering in this manner with the intention of supplication, it has not been reported from the righteous predecessors (Salaf As-Saleh). This action might be considered an innovation (bid'ah) that should be avoided, as Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Any act of worship that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform, then do not perform it. For the former left nothing for the latter to add." It is better for women to gather in one place to study and reflect upon the Qur’an, as this is the desired method about which the Hadith states: "No group of people gathers in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy covers them, angels surround them, and Allah mentions them among those with Him."
