My husband has intercourse with me without us taking off our clothes. What is the ruling on that?
The majority of scholars permit a husband and wife to be unclothed during intercourse. They cite the hadith of Bahz ibn Hakim: "Guard your 'awrah except from your wife or from what your right hand possesses." They also cite the hadith of Abdullah ibn Umar, which prohibits nudity except when relieving oneself or when a man is intimate with his wife.
The Hanbalis, however, hold that complete nudity during intercourse is disliked, based on the hadith of Utbah ibn Abd al-Sulami: "When one of you approaches his wife, let him cover himself, and let them not strip naked like two donkeys."
Therefore, according to the Hanbalis, not removing clothes during intercourse is more appropriate, whereas the matter is broad for the majority of scholars.
