What is the difference between increased sexual desire due to a wet dream and its increase due to looking at foreign women on television?

The comparison between a wet dream and looking at women is invalid. A wet dream is a natural phenomenon, not sinful, and cannot be prevented, as it is beyond human control. However, masturbation and looking at women are forbidden because they occur by a person's intention and will. Looking at women is forbidden by Islamic law due to the great harms that result from it, for looking is the 'postman of fornication.' Allah has commanded lowering the gaze and warned against disobeying His command. Patience in lowering the gaze is easier than patience with the pain that comes thereafter.
