Can God create another god like Him, or create something so heavy that He cannot lift it?

First: An atheist needs someone to call him to God and remind him of His signs and blessings, for the entire universe points to its Creator. One should be wary of the sophistries of atheists, except for those who are qualified to refute them.

Second: This sophistry is ancient and has two answers: 1. This matter is impossible; the assumption that God is created is absurd, because if He were God, He could not be created, and if He were created, He would not be God. 2. The existence of another god alongside Allah is inherently impossible, and if there were, the order of the world would be corrupted due to their conflict, as indicated by the Quranic verses.

As for Allah's ability to lift something heavy that He cannot create, the answer is that this is impossible, because Allah is its Creator and He is capable of annihilating it. The atheists' claim that Allah cannot do this impossible thing challenges the generality of His saying: (Indeed, Allah is over all things competent), and the answer is that this impossible thing is not a "thing," for Allah's power relates to possible things, not to inherently impossible ones.
