What is your advice to a wife who does not lower her gaze from foreign men, and is it permissible for her husband to dislike her or not tolerate seeing her because of that?

Allah commanded women to lower their gaze from non-mahram men. Many scholars are of the view that it is impermissible for a woman to look at a non-mahram man, whether with lust or without it, citing the hadith of Umm Salamah, in which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered them to veil themselves from Ibn Umm Maktum, who was blind, and said: "Are you two blind as well? Do you not see him?"

Others are of the view that it is permissible for them to look without lust, citing A'isha's looking at the Abyssinians while they were playing with spears. The conclusion is that looking with lust is impermissible by consensus. As for looking without lust, there is a difference of opinion, and it is better to avoid it unless there is a need.

The husband is advised to counsel his wife gently and wisely, and to avoid accusation. He should help her obey Allah by teaching her about her religion, moving her to a righteous environment, and connecting her with good company of righteous women.
