The rights of parents are immense, especially the mother, but obedience to them is in what is good (ma'ruf), and preventing him from disposing of his legal right to inheritance is not considered good. The mother has the right of pre-emption (shufa'a) over the house if she desires and possesses the means to pay, and the son has the right to sell his share to someone else if she does not wish to buy it or wants it without fair compensation. This is not considered an act of disobedience, as it is permissible to disobey parents in matters that cause harm to the child.
