Can the deceased visit their close living relatives?

The deceased does not visit their family or return to this world ever, as Allah Almighty says: "And it is forbidden for a town which We have destroyed that they should return." (Quran 21:95). It has been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that Allah resurrected the father of Jabir ibn Abdullah and spoke to him directly. The martyr then asked to return to life to be killed again. Allah said: "I have decreed that they shall not return." Then he asked for those behind him to be informed, so the verse was revealed: "And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision." (Quran 3:169).
