Is the widow’s sharing in her deceased father’s pension, equally with her mother, considered disobedience to her mother, who became angry about it, verbally abused her, and wanted to reclaim her full share of the pension, and what should the widow do to appease her mother?

A woman's demand for her share of her deceased father's pension is not considered disobedience (ʿUqūq) to her mother. The mother's and siblings' mistreatment of her because of this is injustice and aggression. However, the mother's right is not forfeited by her injustice, and the daughter must honor her mother and treat her kindly as much as she can without harm. To appease the mother and avoid her anger, the daughter should explain to her that what she did is her right and involves no injustice. She can seek the mediation of some righteous people. She should also frequently supplicate to Allah to guide her mother and make her pleased with her.
