Does the aforementioned Hadith indicate that the martyrs, scholars, and wealthy individuals mentioned therein are the first to enter Hellfire? Are they temporarily punished for their minor hypocrisy while their faith remains intact, or have they committed major hypocrisy and will abide eternally in Hellfire? Is the purpose of the Hadith to warn against the danger of hypocrisy?

The hadith (definition) warns against the dangers of ostentation (riya'), clarifying that the first to be judged on the Day of Resurrection will be three types of people: a martyr, a scholar and reciter of the Quran, and a generous spender. They will be dragged into Hellfire because their deeds were for show, not for Allah.

Ostentation is of two types: major shirk (definition), like the state of the hypocrites, and minor shirk, which can emanate from a believer. It is possible that these three individuals fall into both types, but it is more likely that they are disobedient Muslims who will enter Hellfire and then be removed from it after being purified. The hadith is a severe warning against ostentation of all kinds.
