I found a pen on a desk. May I take it? Is this forbidden (haram)?

If an employee or a student finds pens and tools on their desk that do not belong to the workplace, they must inform their owners about them and return them. If no one identifies them or there is no other employee, then it is considered a 'Luqatah' (found item): If its value is small (like a pen whose price does not exceed fifty riyals), it is permissible to take it and benefit from it without announcing it. If it is of considerable value, it must be announced for a year before owning it.
