What is the ruling on using and manufacturing human-shaped dolls for teaching medicine?

It is not permissible to photograph living beings or create sculptures of them, except out of necessity or an urgent need. However, it is permissible to use pictures and sculptures in the medical field for the purpose of understanding and conveying information to students, and as an alternative to examining patients.

Dr. Muhammad bin Ahmad Wasil stated that the use of images in the medical field has several situations:

1. First Situation: An image of an independent part of the body (internal or external, excluding the face) is neither forbidden nor disliked; rather, it is permissible. 2. Second Situation: Full or partial images of living beings (sculpted or flat), such as those used in medical colleges and conferences for the purpose of application and study. These may be used out of necessity, due to the following evidence: The urgent need to understand and convey medical information. Considering it an indignity to the images, as they are used for practical application. No fear of venerating these images. A tangible public interest results from their use.

Conclusion: It is permissible to make these models and use them in the field of teaching and learning.
