The land of Midian, the people of Shu'ayb (peace be upon him), was in an area known as Al-Bada', west of Tabuk, between it and the Gulf of Aqaba. It is believed that Al-Bada' is the city of Shu'ayb, while others believe that Ma'an in Jordan is the dwelling place of the people of Midian. Still others deny that Al-Bada' was the capital of Midian. Al-Aykah, which is mentioned in the Holy Quran, was said to be Tabuk, but what is well-known is that it refers to a dense grove of trees, and "the Dwellers of the Wood" refers to the people of Midian. Midian and Tabuk are adjacent.
