Is it established that the ruins and dwellings of the city of Al-Bidaa, carved into the mountains, are the dwellings of the people of Shu'ayb (peace be upon him)? And what is the ruling on visiting those ruins for entertainment and viewing, or for contemplation and taking admonition?

It is well-known that the dwellings of Midian are located in the northwestern part of the Arabian Peninsula. If this is correct, then it is not permissible to visit them for the purpose of sightseeing and observation, because when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed through Al-Hijr—which were the dwellings of Thamud—he said: "Do not enter the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, lest what befell them should befall you, unless you are weeping." Then he covered his head and hastened his pace. This ruling includes the dwellings of Thamud and others who are similar to them in their characteristics.
