What is the ruling on producing and publishing entertaining video clips on YouTube with the intention of making people laugh?

There is no harm in producing and publishing entertaining video clips if they are free from unlawful elements and Shariah prohibitions, such as mocking people, appearance of women, lying, singing, music, dancing, calling to immorality and vice, or teaching bad qualities.

These clips should not be the sole preoccupation of the producer; rather, useful and purposeful clips should also be added. For a person will be questioned about their life and youth, and excessive laughter is Islamically reprehensible.

These clips are acceptable within reasonable limits, but if they exceed the limit, they become blameworthy. A person's life is too precious to be wasted on permissible matters. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Two blessings which many people lose: health and free time." Many people do not realize the value of these two blessings and waste them without gaining anything beneficial for their afterlife, thus regretting when regret is of no avail. A wise person must utilize health and free time in obedience to Allah.
