The question

What is the authenticity of the widely circulated story that the earth does not absorb blood due to the supplication of Adam (peace be upon him) against it when it absorbed the blood of his son Abel, and how do we respond to those who use the حديث (Prophetic narration) "Narrate from the Children of Israel, and there is no harm" to prove such stories?

The answer

There is no basis for the story that the earth has not absorbed blood since the son of Adam killed his brother. What some historians narrate in this regard from Wahb ibn Munabbih is false because Abd al-Moneim ibn Idris, narrating from his father, is abandoned and accused of lying. This report is among the Isra'iliyyat (Judeo-Christian traditions) that are not to be relied upon, especially since it includes Adam cursing the earth, even though the earth committed no sin, "and whoever curses something that does not deserve it, the curse returns upon him." As for the earth not absorbing blood, this is incorrect. The earth absorbs liquid blood but does not absorb clotted blood; and this is not a unique property of blood.
