The husband has guardianship over his wife, and this entails preventing her from engaging in forbidden acts. If the wife goes out perfumed or in immodest clothing, the husband is not permitted to allow her to do so. Rather, he must prevent her and compel her to wear the lawful . The lawful hijab has conditions, and if these conditions are met in any garment, then it is a lawful hijab. If the wife does not obey, then the lawful means of rectification must be employed: admonition, boycotting her in bed, and a non-injurious beating.
